The reef starts at 6m and goes down to 20m+ the corals are in near pristine condition, with a wall to follow with canyons flowing into the reef to explore. This is the site to look for Nudibranches I have found several species while diving this site. Reef sharks, turtles and large rays are also found here. |

Named after one of the skippers of the day boat I work on who had a little mishap on this reef. It consists of a wall down to 15m, my favourite site on this reef is a pair of true Clownfish that will actually sit in the palm of your hand. Just put your hand near them and they hop on over, turtles are also seen hanging around. |

This site consists of several large round pillars of coral that tower to the surface from the ocean floor. These pillars look like stepping stones in the ocean when viewed from the surface. The tops of the bombies are teaming with Anemone fish and often have schools of squid swimming around. In the deeper water Gorgainian fan corals can be seen and on several occasions I have had Remora’s attach themselves to me during my dive. |

Pellowe Reef is the furthest South of all the reefs visited by our day boats and is only dived in calm conditions. There is only one dive site here, the corals are the best of all the regularly dived reefs, starting from just below the surface creating a small wall down to 10m. There are a few bombies deeper which house a patch of Garden Eels but most of the diving is done along the shallow wall. Barracuda in small schools are often found here as well as a number of Anemone fish and Sweetlips. |

This is a large bombie that sits in 16 – 24m and reaches the surface. When water passes over the top of this bombie it is diverted and pushed up into the air, from a distance this gives the illusion of a whales water spout, hence the name. Reef sharks, turtles, Blue Spotted Lagoon Rays and a Napoleon Wrasse frequent here, down deep there is a large Gorgainian fan and sometimes huge schools of Glassfish that swarm the reef. Once on the bottom you are usually joined by inquisitive Spangled Emperor that will follow you around playing in your bubbles, they don’t seem scared at all buzzing around your head as you dive. While there are some great things to do in the depths most of the beauty of this site is found above 10m, corals are colourful and there are numerous Anemone fish. I have sat at the edge of this bombie just below the surface as waves have crashed over it just watching the water movement and whitewash. This was a sight in itself but not long after I started watching I had a large school of Jacks fly in with the waves and using that momentum attack schools of bait fish on the top of the reef. The Jacks were ruthless with wave after wave of them attacking the school until there were none left. To sit just off to the side and watch this feeding frenzy happening at an arms length away was amazing! |

South Milln – This site is not dived very frequently as it is at the south end of Milln reef and is prone to strong current and choppy sea, but when it is diveable, WOW!. From the mooring blocks it looks pretty ordinary, nothing but sand to the west and a small wall to the east. Follow this wall south about 100m or so and it starts to drop off deeper and turns to the east, this is the tip of the reef, a leap of faith is required but will be well rewarded, you need to head West into the sandy void (something I did following a shark). After a short time I came across several pinnacles raising to just under the surface, the bottom starts at 16m and quickly drops to below 30m. These pinnacles have several schools of barracuda and when they meet each other they swarm together to form a massive school. I sat there with mouth a gasp when I first saw this, 100’s of them the sort of thing I was hoping to see on my holiday at Sipadan. There is also a large school of Trevally that reside here as well as a very large inquisitive Gray Whaler shark that will come and check you out as you approach the area. The pinnacles are covered in reef fish and I have seen a large Eagle ray a few times. Gorgainian Fans are numerous around the pinnacles with the deeper ones having more fish life and coral growth. For the more advanced navigator a heading of 240 from the mooring blocks will get you straight there, but it is over a sandy bottom. The few times I have been here the visibility has never been less than 25m and sometimes over 40m. |

A shallow plateau to 3m which steps down to 10m before dropping off to 25m. About 50m west of the drop off a large bombie breaks the sandy bottom, covered in Gorgainian fans and large schools of Glass fish it is definitely worth the trip out. Care should be taken though as the sandy bottom out all looks the same, a compass is a must! Safety stops are performed in the shallow areas that have some beautiful coral formations and numerous reef fish, Reef Sharks are frequently seen here also. |

The Reef slopes from about 3m to 20m, there is a 20m drop off to the South of the mooring, while swimming to this drop off you will encounter several large bombies. Take time to investigate these as this is were Moray Eels and Lion fish are commonly found. The drop off regularly has White tip sharks and Blue Spotted Lagoon Rays resting on the bottom. A sharp eye can also find Nudibranches and assorted shrimp within the corals. Occasionally Eagle Rays and Barracuda make an appearance. In the shallows schooling Sweetlips and the odd Cuttlefish can be seen. Be careful during November as this is breading time for the Titan Triggerfish who aggressively defends their nests, this site seems to be a favourite for breading pairs, with an unusually large number present at breeding time. |

The boat’s mooring is in 10m of water, and from here it slopes down to around 20m+. There are several bombies that go all the way to the surface. Two resident turtles, both friendly live here, a Hawksbill and a Green that aren’t bothered by divers being around, this allows for some close tranquil encounters. Off to the North of the mooring is a large bombie and at the deep end Whitetip Reef Sharks like to rest on the bottom. I have encountered up to 5 or 6 at a time with the odd Barracuda or two hovering above. True Clownfish and anemone fish are readily found and on several occasions Eagle rays gracefully glide by as well as the odd Lions Maine Jellyfish. At night several large turtle rest at this site, one nicknamed Brian can consistently be found here, he is huge with an impressive carapace of over a meter. |

Located at the northern end of the reef, which slopes from 2m gently down to 10m then has a drop off to 35m. The sight gets it name from strips of sand that slope to the bottom and resembles a ski run. Topographically this tends to attract some of the bigger animals with Manta Rays, Giant Trevally, Reef Sharks, Turtles and even a Hammer Head being sighted here. I have even encountered a 3m Guitar Shark accompanied by serval Cobias and on numerous occasions come across large schools of Bumphead Parrotfish. Cuttlefish and Lionfish are frequently seen here camouflaging themselves amongst the coral. The shallow area is ideal for snorkelling with an assortment of hard corals in good condition, teaming with common reef fish to amaze even the most seasoned divers |
