The TDI Decompression Procedures course covers the theory, methods and procedures of planned decompression diving. At the completion of the course divers will be able to plan and execute a staged decompression dive.

Prerequisites

1.     Minimum age of 18
2.     Must have a minimum certification of Advanced diver.
3.     Must provide proof of 25 logged open water dives   

Course Content
The course involves both theory and practical sessions.

Theory covers:

Basic physics and physiology of diving particularly as it relates to decompression.

Equipment considerations for staged decompression diving including the use of stages.

Emergency procedures

Dive planning with particular emphasis on decompression.

Practical sessions:

4 dives are required in which divers demonstrate:

·         appropriate buoyancy, trim.

·         Appropriate use of twin tanks or side mount, including manifold drills and emergency procedures.

Equipment Requirements
Twin tank system and decompression stage cylinder appropriate for the mixes to be used.

Ascent reel and SMB with a minimum of 12kg of lift.

Course Structure

Theory sessions can be conducted over a full day. 4 dives are required and are usually conducted over 2 days.

Numbers of Students

The maximum number of students per course is 4. If you are interested in a course and there is nothing scheduled get together with a few buddies and a course can be organised around your preferred dates.

Course Combinations

This course is a perfect companion course for the TDI Advanced Nitrox course. When run together 6 dives are required.

The combined Advanced Nitrox and Decompression procedures course with 4 divers will cost approximately $895.

It should be noted that at least 2 of the dives should be at depths greater than 30m and that significant time will be spent mid water performing decompression. This is after all what the course is about.
